The Main Players

John – curious Canadian tourist in search of adventure and a fresh perspective on life.





Ryan (aka Space) – John’s friend of 16 years who had moved to Taiwan for one year eight years ago.  He never left.

Iris – Space’s wife.  A Taiwanese girl of Hakka origin, she’s as Western as they come.  A masters degree in English, and very little trace of an accent.  She’s different from most women here; fiercely independent and willing to shun those aspects of her culture that would limit her freedoms just because she’s a woman.
