8/27/10 Treating people like adults: A refreshing change

With no particular plan in place for our first day in Taipei we decided to walk.  In the intense heat, our first stop was obvious, 7-Eleven to get a couple of cold beers for the road.  You can buy alcohol at any time of the day and drink in public without issue.  Public drunkenness is rarely a problem since on the whole the Taiwanese are very restrained.   It would be seen as shameful to be drunk in public, so little if any policing is required, not even for Space and I.

Street beer, more pleasant than bed beer.

  1. Notice the kid in green behind us gawking at our awesomeness.

  2. It would be nice to have so many 7-Elevens in T.O. But only if they also offered beer and laws would permit you to drink on the street! Although that could be dangerous in our city...
